Current products I'm Loving!

Here's just a quick post tonight about two hair products that I'm absolutely loving right now. One is a leave-in spray conditioner from Sexy Hair called Soy Tri-Wheat

I use it right out of the shower before combing through my hair with a wide tooth detangling comb. I feel like this product is more of a detangler than it is a leave-in conditioner. But this is not a negative point. It makes my hair so easy to comb through, and I definately have less breakage! I always look at my comb after combing through my wet hair, and prior to using this product I would always have lots of random hairs stuck in my comb. Since using this product I usually only see about 2 hairs!

The second product i'm totally loving right now is by Redken and it's called Satinwear Ultimate Blowdry Lotion

It's GREAT stuff. It's a heat protectant for blowdrying! And it makes your hair feel like silk! I really don't know what more to say about this product other than that it is amazing. It smells great, feels silky, and I feel it really does help protect my hair from the heat of my blow dryer. Another plus is that it does not weight my hair down at all! it's almost like it's not even there. Except that it's amazing!

Well that's all for now!

extention obsession

So today I've become completely obsessed with hair extentions. I bought some hair a couple years ago when I had a really REALLY short haircut and I was sooo over it. I tried glueing them in and because my hair was so short it looked really bad. So I took them out and put them in the back of my closet. Well yesterday I bought some clips and decided I wanted to sew them on that old hair and see how it ends up looking. This morning I sewed the clips, which took about an hour to do! It's a very tedious process.

Obviously my hair is a lot longer 2 years later, so these 12'' extentions ended up looking great! they are actually just about exactly the same length as my natural hair so they didn't end up making my hair longer but rather much fuller. I look like I have a ton of hair! and naturally I have pretty fine/thin hair, so thats why I'm pretty excited about it.

So, onto why its today's obsession. I spent at least 2 hours today watching videos on youtube about extentions. haha. I didn't even realize I had been watching for so long until I looked at the time.

Anyway, short but sweet post tonight. Anyone have any hair extention stories they would like to share? leave me a comment about it!

Bathtime FAIL!!

How sad that a bathtime fail is even possible!! haha. So, I'm not normally much of a bath person anyway because I have pretty long legs and in a normal sized bathtub I can't actually relax comfortably. Also, I have not taken a bath in probably a year (at least!) and it was when I still lived at my parents house. Now, in the 7 1/2 months that my husband and I have lived in our apartment I have not once attempted to take a bath because it's the same sized tub as the one at my parents, and I could already see that I would not fit (comfortably). But tonight as I was relaxing after a long day at work I decided a bath sounded pretty nice.

A month or so ago I purchased some really cheap bubble bath from Big Lots. It was $3 for this huge pump bottle of Warm Vanilla Sugar scented bubble bath. So I decided to finally try it out!

Well, my husband had taken the drain-stopper (I think thats what you call it! lol) out of the drain. Like it's one of those ones you press down or twist up to open and close. And I guess a while ago he took it out because it wasn't letting the tub drain properly for normal showers. Well I tried to put it back in so I could take my bath. Long story short, I fought with it for about 5 minutes and couldn't get it to work! Ugh! So at this point I'm pretty frustrated and all I want to be able to do is relax in my bath! But I can't even get the stupid plug to work, so how am I going to be able to take a bath?!

So, I get the bright idea to try and use the drain-stopper that I use in the kitchen sink. I figured I'd just try it and if it wasn't going to work then forget it! no bath for me! So I put it over the drain (it didn't fit the way it does in the kitchen sink) and started the water, pumped in some bubble bath and let the tub start to fill up. It looked like it was working out pretty well.

Finally, I got in the tub and tried to figure out how to sit/lay somewhat comfortably... and it was not working at all. I really should get a bath pillow! I used to have one at my parents house, but I think I threw it away when I was moving. Not only that, I realized the water was getting cold pretty quick. Mind you, I was sitting in the water while I still had the water running to finish filling up, so it should not have started to cool off yet at all. So then I touched the water coming out of the faucet and turned the knob to make it hotter, and what the heck! The water kept getting COLDER! It was like I had run out of hot water or something! (no, I was not turning the knob the wrong way) And that doesn't happen with normal showers, so I really dont understand why that happened.

So I turned off the water and tried to relax a bit. Ugh, this wasn't working at all! Temperature was not right at all, I couldn't lay comfortably, my bubbles were dissapearing fast, and it didn't even smell that great. That's what I get for $3 bubble bath, huh! haha. I was like, ok forget it and I pulled the plug. I turned on the water again because I wanted to rinse off the bubbles, and what do you know, it starts coming out hot! So, I plugged the drain one last time and tried to let it fill up since the water was finally coming out hot. Well, I dont know what happened. I let it keep running, but it was like the tub was not filling up enough, probably because the drain-stopper did not fit the drain properly and water was probably draining a little bit at a time!

So much for that! Definate bathtime FAIL.

Shopping List: Bath pillow, Bubble Bath (a nice one!!), plug for tub!

Hopefully next time I can have a better bath.

Comment and tell me what your favorite bubble bath is, or tell me if you have any bathtime fail stories. haha.

peace!

tried and failed products of the moment

Since I've been on my quest to go blonde I've also been really into trying out lots of new hair products. Going blonde really takes a tole (is that how you spell that?) on your locks. It makes them really dry, brittle, and I'm constanly seeing little hairs fall to the floor every time I brush my hair. Makes me sad whenever I see this! So anyway, I purchased an S-Factor duo a couple weeks ago. It was the Health Factor one.

I smelled it first before purchasing and I really did not like the smell! But I bought it anyway because I've heard such good things about that line, and I figured something so expensive BETTER do some great things to my damaged hair! Well I have only used it twice and I really do not like it!! I feel like the shampoo does not get my hair clean. I tease my hair and use lots of hairspray pretty much daily, and I only wash my hair every 2 to 3 days. So when I wash it I want it to feel CLEAN! to get all the hairspray out and for my scalp to feel refreshed. Well this shampoo did not do this. I could still feel traces of hairspray in my hair! Even after shampooing twice, and scrubbing ALOT! On to the conditioner. I felt like the conditioner was nothing special. I've used the S-factor Serious Conditioner. Its the one we use at work when we do deep conditioning treatments, and it works really well. So I figured this Health Factor one should be almost as good, right? Wrong! It's just OK. Nothing special at all.

I really hate to say this, especially because I am a professional Cosmetologist, but lately I've been using Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle Deeeeep Conditioner, and I absolutely love it!

I'm not supposed to use or say these things! Professional products only! But what can I say, I really like it. :-\

Yesterday I purchased Nioxin for the first time. (System 4) I've been selling it at work for the last 2 years and telling customers the wonderful things that it does (all from product knowledge training) but I actually have no personal experience with it! So since I'm on a quest for blonde HEALTHY hair, I thought what the heck I'll try it. We have these boxed sets at work that came out Christmas '09 that retail for $20, but with my discount I got it for 10 bucks and change. I really want my hair to GROW and to be healthy!

Well I tried it this morning, and I'm really not impressed. First of all let me explain what Nioxin is for those of you who don't know. The product was first used for chemotherapy patients who lost their hair. It's a medicated system that helps stimulate the scalp to promote new hair growth. It's not meant to make your hair grow faster, it's meant to promote growth where hair has been lost. It does take months before you see results, but once you do see those results, its pretty amazing. Well I decided to try it out since it has all kinds of good things in it to nourish the hair and scalp. As of today, I am not impressed. I really hate the smell. It's supposed to be minty, but I feel that it's really medicine-y! The shampoo doesn't lather very much, and as I've already mentioned I like my hair and scalp to feel CLEAN! Lather and clean tend to go together (psycologically anyway). I also used the Silk Elixir leave in conditioner.

I actually kind of like that one. I had been using Moistrepair from KMS and while I really do like it, and LOVE the smell, it kind of makes my hair feel heavy!

The Nioxin one doesn't feel heavy at all.

Anyway, I dont know if I will continue using the Nioxin Cleanser and Scalp Therapy. I'm going to give it a couple days (since I wait that long between shampooing anyway) and decide then.

One other thing I'm currently angry about: I recently found in my stash of hair products (and boy do I have a TON! ...maybe I'll do a blog sale to get rid of some! anyone interested?) Redken Blonde Glam... I forget the exact name of the product, but it's like a serum. You can put it on your hair either wet or dry and its supposed to help your hair shine.

Well I used it a couple days ago, and it worked fine and nice, but then yesterday morning I woke up with 4 pimples on one side of my face! ugh!!! I'm pretty sure it's the Redken product that did it because that was the one and only thing I used differently. So frustrating!!

Anywho, hope this helps (or entertains?) some of you out there. If you read this entire thing then I commend you! haha sorry for rambling.

Follow me! I'll follow you! :-)

Leave any comments/opinions on any products mentioned. Later!

doing my hair... yet again!

Here I am doing my hair again! I mean, there's no way around it, I'll always do my hair, and i'll do it more often than most. I am a hairdresser, so it's part of my job for my hair to always look great as well as trying new colors/products for my own personal growth and education! I've been trying to go blonde since the beginning of the year. I was a pretty dark redhead for about a year or so. Going blonde in and of itself can be a pain in the tush, but especially when going from red!! (going from black would be even worse though, so at least i'm not the worst case scenerio at the moment.) I'm literally sitting here with a few concoctions (ahem I mean formulas) on my head, hoping my hair doesn't fall off. haha i'm just kidding, it won't fall off, but it will definately be in need of some tender loving care!!

While this blog is meant to be random, it will also be my personal reviews of beauty related products (hense the name "beautifully random")

At the moment, we're stuck on random. haha. Beauty will follow in other posts yet to come. I've got to go wash my hair, so ta ta for now!
